Sri
Lanka Foundation (SLF) which has now been transformed into the National Centre
for Leadership, Education and Training comes under the purview of the presidential
secretariat and is managed by a Board of Management. For over
four decades SLF has been the premier institution for Leadership, Education and
Training and has contributed to the overall National development of the
country.
Due
to expansion in the educational activities, in order to be more focused with
the varied subjects seven main units have been identified as follows, Social
and Institutional Development Unit, Business and Enterprise Development unit,
Psychology and Counseling Unit, Digital Film Academy, Language and ICT Unit,
Tourism and Hospitality Management Unit and Centre
forwellbeing.
The National Chamber
of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) is the only private sector
Chamber which exclusively serves Sri Lankan Exporters and is the ‘Voice of the
Exporter’. Incorporated in 1994
The
National Institute of Exports (NIOE) started by NCE for the
educational and the training aspect of the NCE members and acts as a subsidiary
of NCE, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), SLF Bonds with the NIOE as a
partner organization with the NCE.
Signing
of the MOU between NIOE and SLF took place at the SLF Premises on 18th of
August 2014, with the participation of the Key officials of SLF and NIOE
& NCE. Via this MOU It is expected to contribute towards enhancement
of management and operational competencies towards the development and
implementation of collaborative programmes to study in exports and imports
management.
The
courses designed will be qualified export specialist certificate course,
qualified export specialist advance certificate, qualified export
specialist diploma, qualified export specialist higher diploma.
This collaboration moreover develops links between industry and the
academia, and promotes research and industry links and networks amongst local
and foreign academics and professionals. This would impact on Sri Lanka’s
Journey of empowering education among diverse entrepreneur community to become
a world’s leading hub for trade mentioned in the “Pancha Bala Kendra” (5 Power
Centres) which is included in the “Mahinda Chinthana” vision for future
envisaged by H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa the President of Democratic Socialist
Republic of Sri Lanka.
